To invite beneficial syncronistic timing. i.e., where everything seems to fall into place in your life, add items made of metal or earth. Metal supports networking and earth supports reliability and constancy. Display artwork and images here of spiritual guides and of people that you believe can provide the necessary assistance and guidance you need in life. Maps and objects representing places you want to travel to or have traveled to are appropriate for energizing this area of your life. A table & chairs placed here will encourage networking and communications with friends and others.
Career/Life’s Journey – NORTH

This area is used to promote not only your career but also yourself and the life path you have chosen. Enhance this area to welcome and support opportunities for a career and life path you desire.
To support the direction you want your life to go and to keep you on track with your chosen life’s purpose, energize this area by activating the water element. Water symbolizes going with the flow of life instead of against it. This can be done by placing a fountain or other water features here, displaying images of flowing water, and through objects that have free form, wavy shapes. Other ways to symbolically keep your life’s purpose and career energetically dynamic are placing objects made of glass or metal or other reflective material such as mirrors and adding the colors blue, especially dark blue, and black to this area.
Avoid placing items or colors here that represent the earth element. Remedy poor lighting, unwelcoming or lack of decorative features, clutter, and slippery flooring.
Knowledge/Self Cultivation – NORTHEAST

This area is used to promote and support spiritual and personal growth. It is the knowledge area that represents not only gaining factual knowledge but also to create a space for the pursuit of inner strength and wisdom.
Enhancements to this area include books and bookshelves to support your desire to acquire more knowledge; a reading corner, meditation area or an alter for clarity and meditation to help you reach your spiritual center. Pictures of mountains, inspirational artwork or quiet, serene places like gardens and beaches will instill a sense of harmony as you look to improve your mind, body, and spirit. Blue, green, and earth tone colors and items made of clay and stone help to symbolically anchor you as you seek stillness and calm. This is one area of the home that can have a solitary theme.
Avoid water features in this area because earth (the element for this area) and water mixed together makes mud. The purpose of this area is for clarity of mind not to muddy it further.
Foundations/Family -EAST

This area is used to encourage supportive family energy as well as supportive energy from other groups in your community that provide you guidance, direction, and strength. This area represents your roots, your heritage, your foundation. This is the area to enhance when your equilibrium has been upset by disruptive discord, arguments, or misunderstandings.
To enhance supportive energy in this area, place photos of family and friends that inspire good feelings and evoke happy memories. Placing items that you associate with good health in general and healthy family relationships specifically activates supportive energy. Photos of people you admire and respect are also appropriate for this area. Adding healthy plants, upright objects made of wood, rectangular objects, and green and blue colors will activate the positive energy of this area. Pictures of sunrises, trees, woods, or water scenes will also. Cherished heirlooms and antiques are appropriate for supportive energy in this area.
Remove from this area all clutter and junk. Also, remove any photos of people or places that resonate with negative energy or that you have a negative reaction to. Remove dead things like dead plants, dried flowers, ashes of the deceased, and mementos of dead things from this area.
Health/Unity – CENTER

Because it is the connection point of all the directions of the home, the energy for this area is both yin and yang. It signifies inclusion. This area is used to improve, strengthen and encourage healthy, productive interdependence of all the directions of the home and those living within it. The Center supports the whole while recognizing the importance of the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the individuals within.
To enhance these qualities, make sure this area is a place where people can gather and socialize as well as enjoy quiet, more solitary pastimes. To foster inclusiveness, arrange furniture so that no one is left out. Make sure there is good lighting and comfortable furniture in this area. Energize this area with yellow, brown, and ochre colors, items that have a square shape and are made of earthen materials. Add small doses of the supporting fire element such as the color red here.
